Protect Your Energy

Protect Your Energy

We hear that phrase often, “Protect your Energy.” From Jhene Aiko, to Ari Lennox, some of our favorites are saying it’s an essential thing we do to survive during these crazy times. It could all be so simple, but it can be so difficult. Every day, every moment, we invite energy into our lives. Whether it’s the mailman, or your crazy ex, energy is everywhere, including within us. Ideally, we would like to believe our days are spent around love and light energies, but we can’t always expect everybody to maintain that 24/7. I live in a house with my fiancée and 10-year-old daughter, and I can assure we all take turns having one off energy day a week. As I’ve gotten older, my sensitivity to energies has heightened and I would like to consider myself empathic.

Empaths are energy sensitive people. For myself, I can easily become overwhelmed in a crowded space or even being around 1 negative vibing person, it’ll send my anxiety through the roof. It used to be pretty draining going outdoors (when outside was open), or even my former job where I would be in constant contact with heavy energy. Even if you aren’t an empath, energies are heavy, and there’s a constant flow of energy happening. So, how do we protect ourselves and stay in a great energetic place? Well, I’m going to give you a few helpful guidelines.

  • Don’t whip out your sage at everyone just yet!

Not everyone likes smoke in their face, so be gentle and compassionate. Keep in mind that the other person with that heavy energy may need a little love and patience. View that another person as yourself and be supportive as much as you can.

  • Don’t be reactive!

While it can be difficult not to yell back at that person, understand that when you do that you’ve now taken on an energy that’s not yours. Be reacting to the energy and the actions they are sending your way; you’ve unintentionally welcomed their energy to become your own. Stop, breath, think, and respond. If you cannot get to that space, walking away and asking for a breather is totally fine to re-align yourself.

  • Do Mantras & Affirmations

Saying little mantras or affirmations when dealing with heavy energy can help to keep     you in alignment with your own energy. Saying mantras like, “I will be positive even when I don’t want to be,” “it’s okay to have an opinion,” “it’s okay to speak up for           myself,” “I am free from energy drains,” “if there’s negativity surrounding me, I keep love closer,” “my energy is safe,” “I only allow positive energy, thoughts, and vibrations        to flow through me,” or “I release all reactions and respond in my power.”

  • Carry Black Tourmaline and Selenite

Black Tourmaline and Selenite have protective energy fields. Black Tourmaline is like the kung-fu fighter of crystals, and Selenite is an energy cleanser, and also can be used just like Sage or other herbs blends.

  • Bathe it off!

Another thing I do upon returning home after a heavy energy day is take a long bath or shower and say mantras as I am in there. “I release all energy that is not mine that I have taken on today, and energy that is no longer serving me.” As I wash off my body, I say these and move my hands over my body in a “shoo” away motion.

As you practice these different things in the situations and people that come at you, it will get easier and become second nature. Just remember, in all of this, your energy is your own, and you don’t have to claim energy that isn’t.

 Love & light,

 Ajah
